Free email reminders

About & FAQ

What is this?
A simple, free service that sends you an email reminder at a time you choose. No app to install, no account required. Type what you want to be reminded about, pick when, enter your email - done.
Why does this exist?
I was a huge fan of Reddit's RemindMe! bot and wanted something like it outside of Reddit. I looked around - there are a few similar services, but none felt simple and fast enough, and I couldn't trust any of them to actually deliver a reminder far into the future (say, a year from now). So I built my own.
Why should I trust that this will still be running when my reminder is due?
Fair question. This is built and run by a solo developer with a track record of keeping services alive long-term. My main project, next-episode.net (a TV and movies tracking community), has been online for over 20 years - and I have other services running 17+ years. I built mailreminder to solve a personal need, I use it myself, and it runs on the same infrastructure I've maintained for two decades. It's not going anywhere.
Do I need an account?
No. You can set a reminder with just your email address - no signup, no password. If you want to view your pending and sent reminders, you can log in with a magic link (we email you a one-click login link). That's it.
Is it really free?
Yes, completely free. There are no ads, no premium tiers, and no plans to change that. This was built to scratch a personal itch, and I'm happy to share it. If it ever grows enough that email sending costs become significant, I might add a small sponsor line in the footer of reminder emails - but the service itself will remain free.
What do you do with my email address?
We use it to send you the reminders you asked for. That's it. We don't send newsletters, we don't sell or share your email with anyone, and we don't use it for marketing. If you log in, we store a hashed authentication token so you stay logged in - standard security practice.
What happens if my reminder email goes to spam?
When you set your first reminder, we send a test email so you can check it arrived. If it lands in spam, mark it as "not spam" - that tells your email provider to trust future messages from us. Our emails are sent through Amazon SES with proper authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) so deliverability is generally very good.
How far into the future can I set a reminder?
As far as you want. A week, a month, a year, five years - there's no limit. The whole point of this service is that long-term reminders actually get delivered.
Can I cancel a reminder?
Yes. Log in and you'll see all your pending reminders with an option to cancel any of them.
Who built this?
A solo developer who's been building and running web services for over 20 years. You might know my other project, next-episode.net. I build tools I personally want to use, keep them simple, and keep them running. If you have questions or feedback, get in touch.
